Life of Kai

My name is Kaiyah Hart
and I went from
hearing
to
hard of hearing
to
deaf!

I had two surgeries to install cochlear implants so I can hear… but without my devices, life is silent. In the silence I learned to love myself and my special ability!

My journey was tough but I’m still standing and now I am encouraged to help others understand and embrace their own special abilities.

If you have a special ability like me and my life story speaks to you then your journey starts here!

Mentor | Author | Speaker

Kaiyah Hart

I help people who have developed a disability and struggle with understanding why, take control of negative emotions, champion their special ability, and create an enjoyable life with God.

Today I am a mentor, an author, a speaker, a musical artist, a minister, & designer even though I am deaf! BUT today is not yesterday… There was a time in my life when I struggled with depression over my disability and was angry with God over allowing me to have it

I was not born deaf! It was something that started happening to me sometime between preschool and kindergarten.   I don’t remeber exactly when things changed. I do remeber how hard life became once I started my journey

What is HOH /Deaf?

HOH (Hard of Hearing)

Hard of hearing (HOH) means you have some degree of hearing loss!  The loss of hearing can range from mild to profound.

Another term for Hard of Hearing (HOH) is hearing impaired.

Most individuals who are Hard of Hearing (HOH) can hear some form of sound but will need a hearing device to hear speech more clearly.

In my journey, we started to get and idea that I was HOH around 5 years old. I simply started to loss my hearing in my right ear so my hearing device was a hearing aid. My school also helped me out with a hearing device called an FM system.

Deaf

Deaf means your hearing loss so severe that there is very little or no hearing! Your hearing loss is labelled as profound or beyond.

Individuals who are deaf may be able to use a hearing device called a cochlear implant  to them hear speech and sound.

That’s where I am today. Without my implant I can hear sound but only if it’s as loud as a jet engine!

My hearing loss in both ears progressed to profound and in 2015 I had surgery to install my 1st Cochlear Implant device.  My 2nd device was installed in 2021.

I became deaf because of a hereditary trait I have called Mondini Malformation
